Welcome to Sun Prairie Honey! We are a family-run beekeeping crew based right here in Birch Tree, Missouri, in the heart of the beautiful Ozarks.
Our journey actually started back in Illinois, when we set up our very first hive alongside our oldest son. What began as a simple, shared curiosity quickly grew into a passion that captured our entire family of five. Today, every single jar we sell is a true family effort—from checking on the hives in the spring to bottling the liquid gold in the fall.
When we relocated to southern Missouri, our bees happily moved with us. Our hives sit tucked away in fields surrounded by local wildflowers, deep woods, and the changing seasons of Shannon County.
Because we care so deeply about our colonies, we do things a little differently around here. Michael custom-built what our family affectionately calls "bee mansions." These are specially insulated hive boxes designed to keep our bees cozy, safe, and protected during unpredictable Missouri winters.
When harvest time rolls around, everyone rolls up their sleeves. We never outsource—the honey you buy comes straight from the hives we personally tend. We take immense pride in bringing the delicious, raw sweetness of the Ozarks directly from our family to yours.
